REVEREND JAMES WILLIAMS, JR.

History of the Pastor

Reverend James Williams, Jr. was born on March 15, 1948 to the late James and Marie Williams of Pinetops, North Carolina.  He received his early education in Edgecombe County Public School system of Pinetops, North Carolina.  He is a graduate of G.W. Carver High School.  After graduating from high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years.

During his military enlistment he served in Vietnam and received serious wounds during an attack by the North Vietnamese soldiers.  However, God had protected him for a time such as this, ‘To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”

In 2002 he retired from the U.S. Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. where he worked for thirty four and a half years.  There he served as the Assistant Superintendant of the bindery division.  He was responsible for planning the day to day operation, which consisted of making sure that all employees were gainfully employed daily to accomplish the agency’s mission.  He was also responsible for administering policy and procedures.

After receiving Jesus Christ as his personal savior in July 1994, Reverend Williams was baptized at Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Fort Washington, MD where he and his family joined and there he sang in the King’s Men Choir until they joined Mt. Paran Baptist Church in 1999.

Reverend Williams accepted his call into the Gospel Ministry in November 1999, preached his initial sermon March 11th 2000 and was licensed to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ by Reverend Dr. Willie T. Lawson and the Mt. Paran Baptist Church family.  Reverend Williams was later ordained to the gospel ministry in June 2006.

Reverend Williams and the love of his life, Sister Rebecca Williams, have been married for 32 years and are blessed with one daughter, Lakisha, who is a graduate of Towson University and a teacher in the District of Columbia public school system.  They also have one grandson, Jeremiah.

While studying to show himself “approved unto God”, he has made preparation for the ministry, which include: completion of four years of academic training at Jericho Christian Training College; completion of several courses in W.T.L. Ministries and studies in courses of Evangelism and Christian living at Maple Spring Baptist College and Seminary.  He is also a graduate of the Ministers’ Division of the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education.  Reverend Williams earned an Associates & a Bachelors degree in Biblical Studies from Breakthrough Bible College.

Pastor Williams is also an author.  His First book is entitled “Turning your Defeat into Victory, It’s Praying Time.”  It is a book that focuses on the power of prayer and how you can intercede on another’s behalf through intercessory prayer.  Pastor William’s plan is write other books to encourage the body of Christ and others.
