REVEREND
JAMES WILLIAMS, JR.
History of the Pastor
Reverend James Williams, Jr. was born on
March 15, 1948 to the late James and Marie Williams of Pinetops,
North Carolina. He received his early education in Edgecombe County
Public School system of Pinetops, North Carolina. He is a graduate
of G.W. Carver High School. After graduating from high school he
enlisted in the U.S. Army for three years.
During
his military enlistment he served in Vietnam and received serious
wounds during an attack by the North Vietnamese soldiers. However,
God had protected him for a time such as this, ‘To preach the Gospel
of Jesus Christ.”
In 2002 he retired from the U.S.
Government Printing Office in Washington, D.C. where he worked for
thirty four and a half years. There he served as the Assistant
Superintendant of the bindery division. He was responsible for
planning the day to day operation, which consisted of making sure
that all employees were gainfully employed daily to accomplish the
agency’s mission. He was also responsible for administering policy
and procedures.
After receiving Jesus Christ as his
personal savior in July 1994, Reverend Williams was baptized at
Ebenezer A.M.E. Church in Fort Washington, MD where he and his
family joined and there he sang in the King’s Men Choir until they
joined Mt. Paran Baptist Church in 1999.
Reverend Williams accepted his call
into the Gospel Ministry in November 1999, preached his initial
sermon March 11th 2000 and was licensed to preach the
gospel of Jesus Christ by Reverend Dr. Willie T. Lawson and the Mt.
Paran Baptist Church family. Reverend Williams was later ordained
to the gospel ministry in June 2006.
Reverend Williams and the love of his
life, Sister Rebecca Williams, have been married for 32 years and
are blessed with one daughter, Lakisha, who is a graduate of Towson
University and a teacher in the District of Columbia public school
system. They also have one grandson, Jeremiah.
While studying to show himself
“approved unto God”, he has made preparation for the ministry, which
include: completion of four years of academic training at Jericho
Christian Training College; completion of several courses in W.T.L.
Ministries and studies in courses of Evangelism and Christian living
at Maple Spring Baptist College and Seminary. He is also a graduate
of the Ministers’ Division of the National Baptist Congress of
Christian Education. Reverend Williams earned an Associates &
a Bachelors degree in
Biblical Studies from Breakthrough Bible College.
Pastor Williams is also an author. His
First book is entitled “Turning your Defeat into Victory, It’s
Praying Time.” It is a book that focuses on the power of prayer and
how you can intercede on another’s behalf through intercessory
prayer. Pastor William’s plan is write other books to encourage the
body of Christ and others.
